Tautology in literature is seen as a fault in style, for visual artists this is as essential as the act of painting itself. Repetition distils the subject and reconditions the image to reach its essence. I have painted several versions of this landscape inspired by my daily walk along the disused Wendover branch of the Grand Union Canal in Buckinghamshire. The ethereal light filtering through the breezy branches of the trees is reflected by the glassy waters of the canal. Revealing the metaphysical dimension of nature.
