Rain on Cymbeline’s Mount

Rain on Cymbeline's Mount

I live near the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, I love the view of Cymbeline’s Mount from Coombe Hill. I am especially thrilled by this dramatic rainy scene with shards of light slicing through the huge grey clouds.

As a geologist, the escarpment of the Chiltern Hills is overlooking the Vale of Aylesbury roughly coinciding with the southernmost extension of the ice sheet during the Anglian glacial maximum. The Chilterns are part of the Chalk Group of southern England which formed between 65 and 95 million years ago; the most famous of which are the White Cliffs of Dover.
