More than 4 years since…

Wow! It’s been more than four years since my last post on this scrapbook. I’ve been very busy with a lot of different things and to be honest I did not manage to paint much at all. Let alone paint daily.

Oh well! In the meantime though, here’s what I’ve been doing: I finished my BSc (Honour) in Natural Sciences (focusing on geology and astrophysics) with a 2.1 at the Open University followed by an MSc in Earth Science with Distinction (yeah, clever me!) with a project on satellite observation of iceberg B-15. The largest one since record began. I investigated its effects on primary production (if you’re interested here’s a copy of it).

My new insight in geology will definitely help in my future artistic endeavours. I have lots of new ideas about paintings of different types of rocks and geological features and I will try to share my new-found knowledge and passion with you all.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, I built my new studio

W Studio

So, now I don’t have any excuse about missing my daily painting routine, which I intend to restart soon. I’m still putting a few finishing touches to the studio – i.e. electricity – and other little things.

My artworks are now for sale (some at auction) at https://wolfangostudio.com powered by Daily Paintworks. While this site will gradually become my blog/gallery where I will share my thought and ideas. Please reach out if you want to exchange a few words with me.

Zucca

Zucca

Accidental art: I’ve been using old paint to create a background layering of mixed colours on an old canvas. Then with a bit of artistic flair, I started to draw something from my imagination. In the end, it looked like a pumpkin (zucca in Italian)… So I finished it off with some details. What do you think?

Looking out from my bedroom window I see the Chiltern Hills and occasionally huge cumulonimbus clouds. I enjoy painting clouds 🙂

Broken Marlow

Broken Marlow
Broken Marlow

I really struggled with this painting of Marlow High Street, after many corrections I ended up getting so upset that I wiped it off and crack the board in half in a moment of rage.

A few hours later, after a relaxing cup of coffee – yes, I do chill down with an espresso – I realised that this sort of outcome is part of the artistic process and should be accepted. So here it is, my not so refined oil on broken board titled appropriately Broken Marlow, 12 × 16 inches and it’s available for sale. SOLD.

By the way, I am really proud of it.
